SCWDS Veterinary Extern Program
The Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS) is a special unit within the College of Veterinary Medicine. SCWDS welcomes participation from junior or senior veterinary students from all accredited veterinary colleges in the form of an externship program. It is a 3-12 week program in Athens, GA.

OIE Internships
1-6 month opportunities in Scientific/Technical Development, International Trade, Animal Health Information, and Regional Activities departments in Paris, France, or other country locations.

NIH SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH (SIP)
8+ week summer programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD provide an opportunity to spend a summer working at the NIH side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research.

Eco=Epidemiology Externship
3-4 week externship in Valdivia, Chile. This international veterinary public health externship has spots available for up to 4 students. Emphasis on food safety, zoonosis control, and environmental health.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations
2-6 month program in Rome, Italy or other country locations, that provides hands-on opportunities for students or young graduates to learn more about what FAO does.

FDA Veterinary Clerkship Program
3-6 week long program in Rockville, MD is intended to afford students an opportunity to apply their advanced backgrounds in basic and clinical science supporting CVM's regulatory review and research activities.

AVMA Governmental Relations Division
Four-week program in Washington D.C. that introduces externs to the breadth of public policy issues facing the profession and provides hands-on lobbying experience with legislators and staffers on Capitol Hill. $1200 stipend is provided.

CDC Epidemiology Elective
6-8 week program that gives senior medical and veterinary students an introduction to preventive medicine, public health, and the principles of applied epidemiology.
Application due March 30 for fall semester and May 30 for spring semester (opens January 15), housing not provided but living expenses related to field services is provided.
